 Information and Communication Technology CS Hon. Joseph Mucheru launched the Kenyatta University chapter of Ajira Digital Club that aims at empowering young people by providing them with online jobs. Close to 300 KU students are trained under Ajira while another 100 are earning a living off the programme. During the launch, the CSvisited one of IT labs accompanied by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Paul Wainaina, alongside the ICT Principal Secretary Mr. Jerome Okoth Ochieng (right) and Prof. Simon Onywere (left)the KU Director for Capacity Development and Consultancy Services.

The University lost Prof. Agnes Gathumbi and Dr. Isaac Mwangi who were returning home after attending to official duties abroad. They were celebrated as dedicated scholars who served the University with distinction.

Mourners pay tribute to Prof. Agnes Gathumbi who was a Director of teacher professional development and teaching practicum at Kenyatta University during a memorial service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Thome yesterday. She perished after the Ethiopian airlines flight ET302 crashed en route to Nairobi. Prof. Gathumbi, an accomplished researcher, was eulogised as a passionate scholar who was committed to raising teaching standards in Kenya and the rock of her family.

Over 3,000 secondary schools students attended the event and received advise on career choices as they prepare to sit national exams later this year.
