The Africa Center for Transformative and Inclusive Leadership (ACTIL), was established by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in partnership with Kenyatta University in February, 2014. This was as a result of a baseline survey conducted in 2013. The survey revealed that even though there were a few academic and civil society institutions undertaking leadership capacity development, on a short term basis, there was no institution in Africa that was offering specialized programs for Transformative and Inclusive Leadership Development.
