Prof.Wangari Mwai.
Prof. Mwai is a Regional Gender Consultant for about 25 years. As a Researcher , trainer of trainers and facilitators and consultant she has worked with United Nations Agencies and international organizations including UNICEF, UNIFEM, UNWOMEN , USAID and the World Bank within the ESARO region. For the last more than thirty years, She has taught and supervised students in Literature , General Research Methods , Gender and women’s literary creativity at the University Of Nairobi, Maseno and Kenyatta universities. As a researcher, she has supervised numerous Undergraduate and Graduate Research projects. She has also been a team leader of diverse teams in proposal writing, data collection and dissemination of research findings through workshops, seminars and report publications. She is an internationally certified Trainer of Trainers and Facilitators in Gender and Leadership. She is a gender trainer herself and a tried and tested leader in the university, the society in general and the church in particular. She has exemplary skills in qualitative and participatory research and training Academically, Prof. Mwai holds a Ph.D in Literature (Swahili Women’s Nuptial Oral poetry), A Master of Arts in Literature (Kiswahili poetry), a Bachelor of Education degree (Literature and Kiswahili) and an Executive Masters in Business administration (EMBA- Business and Leadership). She has served in various positions in university administration. Currently, she is the Associate Deputy Vice chancellor in charge of Student Affairs at the United States International University (USIU- AFRICA). She is also the chair of the technical committee of the African Centre for Transformative and Inclusive Leadership (ACTIL), which is a UNWOMEN sponsored centre for leadership training for women and youth, hosted by Kenyatta University.
Prof.Catherine Ndungo.
Prof Catherine Ndungo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kiswahili at Kenyatta University .She holds a PhD in African Oral Literature. She also holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and African Languages. Prof. Catherine Ndungo was formally the Associate Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Previously she was the Director, Institute of African Studies. She was the founder Chairperson of the Department of Gender and Development Studies. She has published widely in her area of Scholarship. She is also a member of many professional bodies such as Association of African Women for Research and Development, Organization for Social Science Research for Eastern Africa among others. She sits in several boards including Hand in Hand for Eastern Africa where she serves as the secretary as well as a member of Tanzania Advisory Board. She is also the Chairperson of British Institute of East Africa in Kenya and also Chairs Oslo Foundation in Kenya. She is a trainer of women and youth in Transformative Leadership under the African Centre for Transformative Leadership(ACTIL), a partnership between Kenyatta University and UN Women.
Dr.Barasa Nyakuri.
He is one of the leading Civic Educators and Strategic Planners in the Country, IEC material and training Consultant in since 1993 to present. His achievements includes;
- Proposal Approval Consultant Children International Foundation Fund (CIFF 2006)
- UNICEF and Private Sector Proposal Vetting Committee member 1997 to 2000
- Grant for environmental analysis and natural resource management (ACTS 1992-1994)
- Consultant of for several organizations dealing with Gender, Governance, Democracy, Human Rights and Electoral Management and Election Monitoring Groups in Kenya since 1994 update. For instance National Democratic Institute for International Affairs ( NDI 1993 to 2011), National Civic Education Programme (NCEP) training consultant under CLARION, Youth Agenda, CRECO, Engendering the Political Process Programme (EPPP), Gender and Governance Programme (GGP) under UN WOMEN, Training of Programme Officers, Accountants and Executive Directors for GGP under Action Aid International Kenya, Trainer on GGP for ECWD, Youth Consortium, Gender Consortium, Caucus for Women Leadership ( CWL), MaendeleoYaWanawake( MYWO), Parliamentary and Civic Candidates for 2007 and 2013 General Elections in Rift Valley, Western, Nairobi and Central Provinces. Dr. Leah Njambi Wanjama.
Dr. Leah Wanjama is an educationalist, a gender and advocacy trainer, curriculum developer and a consultant in various areas especially in Gender Planning and Programming. Leah is a Lecturer in Kenyatta University in the Department of Gender and Development Studies. Among the units Leah teaches which are relevant to GBV are Qualitative Research Methods, Gender, Policy Planning and Practice, Conflict Management including Gender-based Violence (GBV). She also teaches a Unit on Gender issues in Health for the School of Nursing, Kenyatta University, which expounds on broad issues of gender and health including GBV and its implications to health. Between the year 2000 and 2015, Leah worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Health, Kenya, specifically in mainstreaming gender in various health policies including Youth and Reproductive Health and HIV and AIDS Policies. This exposed her to the implications of GBV on health and specifically reproductive health. Further, in her consultancy work, Leah was actively involved in conducting dissemination workshops for the for GBV policy of the then Ministry of Gender and Social Services to create awareness of the negative impact of GBV and overall productivity and wellbeing of women and men including the cost burden of GBV to the general welfare of families. In 2015 and 2016, Leah was in the Technical Team that developed the National Policy on Promotion and Protection of Families in Kenya. This exposed her to the key issues of GBV and how they impacted on family welfare and hence the need to advocate for its mitigation if families were to survive and prosper.

She is experienced Lecturer at Kenyatta University with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry.
